On Thursday 8th May 2014, Mr Luis Fairman plead guilty to the offence of unlawfully using the title of dental technician, in a case bought by the UK regulator of dental practice, the General Dental Council (GDC).
By law all dentists, dental nurses, clinical dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists and orthodontic therapists must be registered with the GDC to work in the UK.
The case was bought after Mr Fairman unlawfully used the title on a Youtube video titled “NHS Dentistry – Ed’s Story” despite never having registered with the GDC.
Mr Fairman was fined £500 and ordered to pay costs of £500 to the GDC, as well as £50 victim surcharge.
