Two women have been successfully prosecuted by the General Dental Council (GDC) for unlawfully practicing dentistry in London.
On 23rd April 2014 Maggie Peachey and Jodie Evans both pled guilty at Westminster Crown Court to the offence of unlawfully practicing dentistry.
Miss Peachy pled guilty to one offence of unlawful practice, related to tooth whitening, and was fined £750 as well as a victim surcharge of £100 and costs of £1000 for the GDC. Miss Evans pled guilty to two offences of the unlawful practice of dentistry and holding herself as being prepared to practice dentistry. Miss Evans was sentenced to a six month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and costs of £200 to the GDC.
Both were found guilty under section 38 of the Dentists Act 1984, in relation to events that took place on 31st January 2014 at 10 Harley Street, London, W1G 9PF.
