Spring has finally arrived in England and April has not only brought us warmer days but also the annually awaited British Dental Conference and Exhibition 2013. It was held at London’s Excel Exhibition centre this year and took place over three action packed, informative and a networking based three days (25th-27th). The Dental Nurse Network team arrived on the Saturday to check it out and to find out what is new and exciting in the dental industry today!
On arrival to the exhibition the DNN team were welcomed with goody bags filled with dental delights- magazines, brochures, toothpaste, floss and chewing gum.
The exhibition was bursting with activity. All kinds of dental professionals were present, showcasing their products, organisations and ideas.
CPD was also being carried out in lecture theatres throughout the exhibition. The DNN team met up with Oralift and chatted away with their team about their specialised product. It was a chance to discover new progressions in the dental product market. The team also met up with a dental nurse, Nicola Scott who was exhibiting on the Dawood and Tanner stand. She shared her story of her career as a dental nurse, starting at 16 and making her way up the ladder, to achieve her desired career success.
After a quick rest at the massage stand, the DNN team continued to network, connect and get up to date with all that is going on in the dentistry industry. The team visited the Henry Schein,Ivoclar and ADEC stands to show their support to their sponsors. They also had a chance to mingle with dental professionals from the University of Warwick who shared stories involving stem cell research which has been carried out on mice to attempt to grow teeth. The experiment had been successful!
All in all it was a very interesting day, filled with inspiration and discovery in the dentistry world. It was free admission to the show (not lectures) and definitely well worth the trip. The exhibition demonstrated how much the dentistry industry is continuing to progress and develop in all kinds of areas. The DNN team believe that dental nurses have many chances and opportunities to move along with it!
