Heart your Smile wants to alter the public’s perception of the dental industry. It’s goal is to increase attendance of members of the public to the dentist.

It also regards members of the dentistry profession and deems them as trusted figures in local communities. Heart your Smile wishes to restore positive morale in the dental profession. The charity has recently launched its Innovation 360 degrees. This took place on Saturday 27th April at the British Dental Association.

The Innovation 360 degrees is based on Heart your Smile searching for new and innovative ways to try and transform oral health for patients. They are looking for fun and exciting ways to connect with patients on the basis of oral health. They are offering mentors, grants and products to support dental teams and practices with their innovative ideas. This is all with the intention of trying to help dental teams across the country seek out and initiate oral health education and awareness. Heart your Smile are set to share information with dental professionals to improve oral health, with a focus on attendance and uptake of dental services. Grants are being offered to dental teams to launch oral health promotions. Grants of £360 are being supplied, consisting of 50% for local expenses and 50% in the form of a Heart your Smile Oral Health Kit.

These grants are being given to dental teams with the most innovative and original projects ad ideas. A Heart your Smile committee will select the successful projects. The chosen projects will be provided with a Heart your Smile mentor who assist individuals and also build case reports on and these will act as models for other oral health programmes.

If you are interested in being considered for a grant application, then Heart your Smile want you to outline how your oral health promotion campaign meets their charitable objectives. These are:

  1. To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of oral diseases in the UK through the provision of financial assistance, support, education and practical advice.
  2. To advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to oral health
When evaluating and considering your campaigns and projects you need to consider who your target audience is, which oral health message you are focusing on, what will you do to create lasting impression, where you will hold you project and why your initiative will make a difference. Heart your Smile have declared, ‘We sincerely look forward to what we are certain will be a multitude of insightful and inspiring project ideas, and embarking on a journey of development with those of you who submit applications.’
