Dental nurses and other dental care professionals need to be aware that their annual fee to the GDC is due 31st July 2013. The General Dental Council (GDC) has reminded DCPs that they must pay this fee is order to stayed registered with the GDC and eligible to work. This payment can be made on or before the 31st July but no later. Payments can not be processed after this deadline.
All DCPs are required to be registered with the GDC in the UK to be eligible to work. The annual retention fee is £120 for dental nurses, dental therapists, dental hygienists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists. If DCPs fail to pay their annual fee before the deadline they are under threat of being removed from the GDC’s register. They will also be listed as removed from the register and this information will be sent to UK Primary Care Trusts, Health Boards and indemnity providers. If registrants who fail to pay then decide to restore their name then they will incur further costs.
