Made In Chelsea’s lovable celebrity star Binky Felsead has team up with the company Wrigley, who own Extra chewing gum, with the aim to spread knowledge of oral health to young teens. Wrigley launched an investigation into the oral health of teenagers and young adults. Research demonstrated that this age range (teenagers to early 20s) are the demographic prone to ‘unsatisfactory’ oral care routines. It was also reported that this age group is most at risk to poor oral health and its side effects in later life. With National Smile Month (20th May to 20th June) up to all tricks and campaigns, Binky and Extra now join the forces to help boost oral health across the UK.
Wrigley have established the Wrigley Oral Healthcare programme named Superstar Smile. The manager, Louisa Rowntree was reported to explain that even though sugarfree gum has oral care benefits and is very available and accessible to the younger generation, there is still a lack of knowledge and awareness of the effects of poor oral care and its serious repercussions. ‘Some of the younger generation are still uninformed about the importance of oral care’ Rowntree commented.
Wrigley are the Platinum sponsors of SuperStar Smile. Their main objectives are to remind teenagers of the benefits of chewing Extra sugarfree gum and to deliver the message of the importance of oral health care. The campaign involves a Facebook competition and free samples supplied of the new sugarfree product ‘Extra White Bubblemint’ at shopping centre’s across the UK.
Chewing gum is a convenient and easy method of keeping teeth healthy, especially after eating and drinking. It is well known and clinically proven that sugarfree gum has many benefits to your oral health. Chewing gum releases more saliva which dissolves and washes away debris. This helps to neutralise any damaging plaque acids, as well as re-mineralising the enamel of the teeth.
Superstar Smile wants to encourage people to monitor their daily oral care habits.
Binky was quoted, ‘I think it’s only natural that people have times when they lack self confidence and can worry about how they look, I certainly have. So when Extra offered me the chance to help boost people’s confidence and encourage them to bring out their ‘Superstar Smiles’ I couldn’t resist!’
The Superstar equation:
Looking after your teeth = healthier teeth = happier smile = Superstars
